Peter Murray

Some singer-songwriters are born.

But some—like Peter Murray—are bred.

Peter, one of Canada's top-call bass players, has spent years backing up some of today's hottest singer-songwriters—from Ron Sexsmith to Damhnait Doyle—in clubs and concert halls worldwide.

But now, all that time watching these masters has rubbed off.

This year, he's stepping into the spotlight: writing his own songs, touring them internationally, and producing a debut CD, with some of the songs already aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

His first solo tour took him across Ireland in April and May of 2002, and since then he has taken his music to the US and Japan.

The sideman is now a frontman.

"You learn a lot, standing onstage four inches from the drum kit, watching how a singer and song evolve," says Peter, a native of Toronto.
